About the Role

We are seeking Dispatchers to join our Emergency Operations Centre team, based in either Wakefield or York. As a Dispatcher, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care across Yorkshire and Humberside, using problem solving and quick-thinking skills to coordinate and deploy ambulance resources to ensure patients receive timely assistance.

Main duties of the job

Dispatchers are responsible for the co-ordination and deployment of all Accident and Emergency ambulance resources to meet the demands of the service and to ensure we get help to patients as soon as possible.

Using the Computer Aided Dispatch System, you will constantly monitor the service response times to patients.

You will liaise directly with ambulance staff on the road to ensure patients receive the best response to their needs.

Please note that this role is 24/7,365 days a year (including bank holidays, weekends, days and nights), and we work shifts to achieve this. You would therefore need to be able to make your way to and from work at various times of the day and night.

After the initial training period, you will then be mentored by an experienced EOC Dispatcher for approximately 8-10 weeks whereby you would have undergone written and observational assessments to support your development before being signed off as a competent EOC Dispatcher.

  • If you are successful at the shortlisting stage, you will be invited to complete an online assessment which will be open on the 28th November and close at midnight on the 1st of December 2025.

  • If you pass the online assessment, you will be invited to attend a recruitment event at our Wakefield Headquarters on the 6th of December 2025.

  • The recruitment day will include a further assessment.

  • If you are successful in the further assessment, you will be offered an interview on the same day.

  • Please note: If you are unable to attend on 6th of December 2025, you will need to wait and apply for the next vacancy, as no alternative dates are available.
