We are looking for 2 passionate and dynamic individuals to fill the role of Patient and Staff Engagement Officer.

The successful applicant will be working with the central patient safety team and aligned to one of the Trusts geographical integrated commissioning board areas of :o South Yorkshire ICBo Humber and North Yorkshire ICBo West Yorkshire ICB

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support patient, families, and healthcare staff to be actively involved in the patient safety incident investigation process and contribute to a learning response.

The Engagement Officer will be the primary point of contact with those affected by a patient safety incident, this will include the enactment of Duty of Candour and actively engaging patients, families, and healthcare staff to seek their input to the patient safety investigation and develop a shared understanding of what happened.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience working in an engagement/family liaison specific role
  • Knowledge of regulatory and quality standards applicable to a provider of NHS funded services

Desirable

  • Demonstrable recent/relevant CPD

Skills/competencies

  • A high level of leadership, communications (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly developed ability to interpret, monitor and evaluate information.
  • The ability to develop, implement and maintain effective administrative and reporting procedures
  • The ability to prioritise effectively and judge when issues should be escalated - both for own work and issues handled on behalf of the senior management colleagues

  • Experience in the preparation of general correspondence and management reports
  • Evidence of successfully handling sensitive situations efficiently and confidentially
