Job summary

We are currently recruiting for a Category Support Officer to carry out specific strategic sourcing programmes for defined categories and provide effective management of the Trust procurement portfolios in line with Standing Financial Instructions, EU Procurement Directives and UK Legislation.

Main duties of the job

The Category Support Officer role will be responsible for different categories of relatively low value spend, volume, nature, and complexity. The post is expected to deliver a service that facilitates delivery of products and services on time and at the lowest ultimate cost whilst maintaining the highest level of probity, legislative and corporate compliance, and support to the delivery of patient care to the highest standard.

  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload.
  • A commitment to self development and an open and receptive approach to learning/new ideas
  • GCSE at Grade C or above in English or equivalent.
  • At least 12 months office experience
  • Must have previous experience of computer based supplies functions and stock control systems.

Desirable

  • Experience of supplies ordering stock systems and day to day functions.
  • Previous experience of working within the Health Service
  • Previous experience of working with financial systems (Oracle or equivalent)
