Job summary
We are excited to recruit a Safeguarding Specialist and experienced leader to the role of Head of Safeguarding at Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
Within your role you will be responsible for overseeing the day to day corporate and strategic Safeguarding and Prevent functions and statutory responsibilities across the Trust.
You will work closely with the Deputy Director of Quality and Nursing to provide assurance both internally and externally that the Trust is compliant with the statutory duties for children, young people and adults.
Main duties of the job
The Head of Safeguarding will provide subject matter expertise to the senior leadership team, ensuring that relevant legislation and professional requirements are translated into day to day operational practice. This will include providing safeguarding leadership for the management of safeguarding allegations against staff.
You will develop and steer the vision and strategy for Safeguarding and Prevent across the trust, whilst leading and managing the Safeguarding team.
The post holder will ensure that robust systems, policies, procedures and professional guidance are in place, to enable staff to identify and escalate safeguarding concerns.

- Current broad knowledge of ambulance service context and the wider environment within the NHS including corporate and quality governance.
- Significant senior management experience,including supervision of a team & accredited qualification in safeguarding supervision

- Experience of contributing to the corporate business planning cycle and performance monitoring.
