Job summary
Yorkshire Ambulance Trust is implementing a major capital and change programme which will see a number of our larger urban stations redeveloped or replaced with new facilities incorporating enhanced vehicle fleet maintenance, training and staff welfare accommodation. The Hub & Spoke Transformation Programme is a key strategy for the Trust and aligns with Lord Carter's review, the Naylor Review and NHS E&I Improvement led Ambulance Improvement Programme.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the Hub & Spoke Transformation Team in the role of Senior Project Manager. The post holder will work autonomously with contractors on builds/projects they have been allocated to. They will work within broad guidelines and policies to ensure blueprints come to life by way of buildings and processes to support the Trust's aspiration for a hub and spoke model across the whole YAS footprint. The postholder is a technical specialist and is able to advise the programme / organisation on how builds can come to fruition, depending on the specialist requirements, and nature of the build i.e. size, complexity and geographical area.
Note: there will be a requirement to visit sites across the whole of Yorkshire regularly as part of the role.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of Hub and Spoke transformational projects including the delivery of all milestones and the management of the significant interdependences across subsidiary workstreams operating within agreed financial constraints and over consecutive financial years.
Duties will include:
- Form effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and external technical experts as necessary to ensure the successful delivery of the overall project. This requires advising building contractors and specialists on the Trust's requirements, hence they will work within policies but will be required to interpret these, depending on the size, complexity and geographical area i.e. transport networks, building/land regulations.
- Manage the project's budget on behalf of the Programme Manager, monitoring the costs against delivered outcomes and realised benefits as the project and programme progresses.
- Responsible for ensuring all project risks are actively managed throughout the project and, in particular, all significant risks are identified and mitigations and contingencies reported and put in place.
- Responsible for the delivery of all outputs to the required quality, cost and timescale in order to generate the benefits required to ensure programme/project success.
