Job summary

To sustain and support our current Ambulance Vehicle Preparation (AVP) requirements we are able to offer a permanent vacancy opportunity to join our existing dedicated AVP Operative team.

This vacancy is in West Yorkshire, predominantly Bradford Ambulance Station.

Main duties of the job

Ambulance Vehicle Preparation Operatives process ambulance service vehicles in a prescribed and controlled way that ensures each ambulance is fully equipped and prepared to attend and treat a patient. The role is a key operational support function, which ensures patient safety whilst supporting Operations in meeting its targets. Main duties include detailed cleaning and Infection Prevention and Control activities, checking and inspecting medical and lifting & handling equipment, restocking all consumables and completing vehicle checks. Other duties include the preparation of consumables, stock control, re-fueling and moving vehicles across various locations, recording all daily activities and the repatriation of equipment from Hospital Trusts.

No experience is required as full training will be given. An initial 4 week Training package forms part of your Learning and Development.

Job responsibilities

A DRIVING LICENCE WITH C1 CLASS IS ESSENTIAL - You will be required to confirm within your application that you hold a full C1 Category on your licence which is valid within the UK.

The full-time posts are an average 37.5 hour per week contract based on a 24 hour, 7 day a week rota system including Bank Holidays preparing our frontline operational vehicles.

This role includes working a rota system and the days and evening times are dependent upon current provision required to meet operational/patient demand, but the post offers an opportunity to work outside the usual 9 to 5 daytime routine. Rota days off are across the 7 day week along with significant financial enhancements for maintaining our provision during the evening and weekend. This Ambulance Vehicle Preparation is completed overnight and working durations include 10 & 12 hour shifts. Enhanced payments for unsocial time working are payable.

Night and weekend working does attract unsocial payments which could mean pay increasing to approximately £28K depending on shift patterns.

Holiday entitlement is between 27 days and 33 days depending on length of NHS service plus bank holidays on a pro-rata basis.
