Job summary
The post holder will work as a Senior Occupational Therapist within the National Inpatient Centre for Psychological Medicine, providing specialist assessment and tailored interventions to service users with complex and severe physical and mental health symptoms. They will promote functional and psychological independence through individual and group therapies, while offering expert clinical advice to colleagues and external partners. The role includes contributing to care planning, delivering high quality interventions, and supporting staff through supervision, appraisal, and role modelling best practice.
Main duties of the job
The role provides an excellent opportunity for the post holder to incorporate and utilise a wide range of their occupational therapy skills to promote improved function and independence. The post holder will provide clinical supervision, staff appraisals, and team coordination, while modelling best practice in occupational therapy assessments, interventions, risk management, and recovery-focused care. The post holder will actively participate in day-to-day service provision, working within a structured Occupational Therapy pathway and contributing to the development of a robust OT service. They will also be responsible for supporting colleagues in implementing treatment plans and maintaining strong professional links within the Trust to uphold standards and support the ongoing evolution of the profession.
