Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to appoint a Consultant Psychologist who is passionate about the delivery of excellent psychological services to the Older People of Leeds. The successful applicant will be responsible for the cognitive impairment pathway which spans several teams across our Older People's Service, and will provide clinical leadership that helps deliver high quality neuropsychological assessment for people living with dementia, as well as the delivery of dementia related interventions. They will work alongside two OPS Consultant Psychologists to provide the leadership of the overall OPS Psychological Professional Group, representing the group at forums such as the OPS Senior Leadership Team, Clinical and Operational Governance groups as appropriate.

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic person with a range and depth of experience of working in Older People's Services, and who carries a sustained passion for working with this population. The work will require expertise in complex neuropsychological assessment, risk assessment and formulation, expert level of knowledge of psychosocial interventions related to dementia (including young onset) and a track record of delivering supervision and other aspects of clinical leadership to psychology and non-psychology staff. Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will be expected to

  • Work as a senior member of the service to assist in providing clinical leadership, supervision and strategic service development to the older people's service.
  • Work closely with other senior clinical and managerial staff within OPS to provide a psychological perspective to service planning and development.
  • Be integrated into and hold a clinical case load within one of the MAS locality Teams
  • Provide supervision, teaching and training
  • Provide consultation to colleagues and other services
  • Provide governance/ oversight for assessments including neuro assessments, interventions, referrals, waiting lists and clinical delivery.
  • Provide psychological leadership which will be a core part of the job role.

This opportunity comes at an exciting time for the service where both the MAS and YPWD services have been evaluated and we are actively exploring ways in which the psychological aspects of these services can be improved.

The post will be supported via clinical supervision and managerial supervision within OPS.
