Job summary
Following a review of workload and processes across the inpatient pathway, 3 additional posts have been created across the whole acute IP service in LYPFT, where each ward will be staffed by a fulltime Consultant Psychiatrist and either a (Multi-Professional Approved Clinician MPAC eg Nurse Consultant, or by a less than full time Consultant Psychiatrist. The successful applicants will provide additional medical and clinical leadership to the acute inpatient service across the Becklin and the Newsam centres.
We are seeking two Consultant Psychiatrists to work alongside one another, one full time Consultant and one less than full time at 5 PA's per week.*
The bed base will be shared proportionately between the two Consultants in order that the fulltime post holder does not hold responsibility for in excess of 16 beds at any one time (except for short periods when providing cover). Ward 5 (a female acute ward) already works within a similar model where there are two Approved Clinicians - a fulltime Consultant Psychiatrist and a MPAC. *It is possible that the two postholders can work a different number of PAs each to this combination eg 7PAs and 8PAs or 6PAs and 9PAs if they so wish.

LYPFT has a proven track record in teaching and training medical students and junior doctors, as well as excellent opportunities for developing clinical and medical leadership.
The option is also available too for the Consultant to become the medical lead for the inpatient service with additional remuneration at 1PA.
