Job summary
Working as part of a multi-skilled, experienced, motivated and creative service, you will be responsible for:
- To assist and support the delivery of Occupational Therapy treatment plans for young people at Red Kite View, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
- To coordinate the therapeutic activity program in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist and multi-disciplinary team
- To plan and implement individual and group interventions within the ward and local community environments
- To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and contribute to overall provision of a high-quality service.
- Maintain clear links with your profession's structures and your professional leads within the Trust and adhere to the professional standards and codes of conduct.
Requirements:
- You must be able to be flexible to work shifts including regular waking nights and weekends.
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalent experience.
This vacancy is for a 6 month fixed term contract or alternatively a secondment, subject to current line manager approval.
Main duties of the job
You will:
- Assist the OT's and MDT in the assessment, development and implementation of comprehensive Occupational Therapy based / MDT care plans for Young People.
- You will develop, coordinate and facilitate a weekly program of therapeutic activities under the supervision and guidance of an OT.
- Support and facilitate therapeutic activities on an individual, group and community basis
- Engage with service users to develop or maintain skills in self-care, work and recreation.
- Participate in the multi-disciplinary approach to Young People's care.
- Demonstrate a commitment to involving young people and parents/carers in seeking their views and about their care and treatment
- Participate in service development and governance initiatives within Red Kite View and with the AHP team.
You will have:
- Excellent communication skills
- Great interpersonal skills and be able to establish a professional working relationship with young people and families. You will be cool in a crisis, it's a busy clinical area and we manage lots of risk-taking behaviour and deliberate self harm. It is a demanding, yet rewarding role.
- Ideally, you will have experience of working in mental health services or working with young people in an inpatient setting, although that's not essential.
- Your values are essential to this role; we are looking for someone who genuinely wants to make a lasting impact on young people, who insists on doing things with care and diligence and is able to think on their feet.
