Job summary

Our Health Care Support Workers are at the centre of engaging our service users in their care and treatment.

You will work in a way that promotes positive and collaborative working between all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team and its partners within the Red Kite View Children and Young People's Inpatient unit. The Healthcare Support Worker role is key in promoting therapeutic optimism and hope with young people who have complex mental health issues and /or a learning disability and/or autism.

You will provide a high standard of health care by assisting in and carrying out a range of duties and interventions under the direction and supervision of a registered clinician. You will work within the clinical team to deliver patient centred care, which promotes privacy, dignity and respect for young people we serve.

Please note that this vacancy may close early if the maximum number of applications is reached. An early application is advised.

Main duties of the job

Experience of working with a range of service users with complex mental health needs and/or a learning disability and/or autism is very beneficial, coupled with a minimum L2/L3 NVQ qualification in Health & Social Care (or commitment to achieve within 6 months of commencement), or demonstrable equivalent experience in the role of a health support worker and/or demonstrable lived experience.

Communication is key for this role, you will therefore have outstanding communication skills to enable you to work in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, service users and their family and/or carers.

You will be able to manage your own time effectively, work well in groups or 1:1 with young people and colleagues. There is an expectation to be proactive in getting on with your work but also know when to ask for advice and support.

We recruit people based on their values and qualifications (where required) and believe that their lived experience is an advantage, this means that together we are as diverse as the communities we care for. Simply put, when we employ caring people who act with integrity and have the right skills, we can give those with mental health challenges, learning disabilities and neurodiversity high-quality care and support to live fulfilling lives, and make our staff feel purposeful, happy and valued.
