Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone who is passionate in working with individuals with eating disorders. We have two newly established vacancies as part of an exciting development of the services Allied health professional (AHP) practical and social pathway. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to be employed as a AHP therapy associate.

The role will be part of our West Yorkshire Connect: community adult eating disorder service. Service users will primarily be seen in their own home or in their local community. The candidate must be a driver and have access to a vehicle for community visits.

You will work primarily with OT and Dietitians as well as other MDT members to provide Occupational therapy and Dietetic interventions to service users with eating difficulties.

You will provide the following types of support to service userso Meal preparation and planningo Meal supporto Food/Clothes shoppingo Social eatingo Life and functional skillso Activities of daily livingo Re-engaging in meaningful activityo Routine, roles & integration to the community

Main duties of the job

You will be a valued member of our highly supportive multi-disciplinary, community service and AHP community. You will manage an identified caseload of clients with a range of occupational and nutritional clinical needs. You will provide a range of occupational therapy and dietetic interventions that are guided by the registered OT and dietitians. You will be responsible for feeding this back in MDT, documenting and supporting service users with their care plans. You will support patients in their own homes, at our base in Leeds as well as potential to provide in-reach support both on our specialist eating disorder ward in Leeds or various acute hospitals within West Yorkshire. Due to large area the service covers, you must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a car. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applicants who are awaiting to take a driving test.

Essential

  • Foundation degree in healthcare/other relevant qualification

Desirable

  • AHP therapy assistant, OT/dietetic assistant practitioner
  • 2 years Health support worker band 3 experience
  • Previous experience in CAMHs or working in eating disorders

Experience / Skills

Essential

  • Has experience of working with people with a learning disability and/or mental health.
  • Must be a driver with access to a vehicle for community visits.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Evidence of a range of knowledge of the role of occupational therapy and the Dietetic role
  • Interest in working with people with mental health needs

You will be offered supervision from the Occupational Therapy and Dietetics team, receive regular training and development opportunities including training in interpreting OT and dietetic assessments, goal-setting and graded interventions.
