Mental Health Specialist Dietitian
This job is now closed
Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the dietetic provision in the Healthy Living Service based within an older persons community mental health service. People with mental health diagnosis are more prone to physical health conditions such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and malnutrition. Older people experience higher rates of malnutrition, which can lead to poorer health outcomes than the general population. Alongside these conditions, service users in the community mental health team (CMHT) may also present with disordered eating patterns, paranoid beliefs, strong anxieties around food, and self-neglect. The input from a Dietitian can have a positive impact on service users' physical health and wellbeing, and lead to an improvement in quality of life.
The Healthy Living Service is at the forefront of improving overall physical health for people who use our services. Our friendly and supportive Healthy Living Team consists of a Service Manager, Physiotherapists, Dietitians (Clinical Lead and bands 5 and 6), Speech and Language Therapist, Health Improvement Specialist, and Healthy Living Advisors. You will also be working within CMHTs which include additional MDT members such as Mental Health Nurses, Psychiatrists, Psychologists and Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Social Workers.
