Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our award -winning Adult Eating Disorder service to cover a period of maternity leave. As a Consultant Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist/ CBT therapist you will be responsible for the overall leadership of psychological therapies delivery within the service, supporting psychological and trauma informed thinking and enhancing psychological safety across the service. This opportunity is advertised on a fixed term, secondment or acting up basis, to provide maternity leave cover available full time or part time basis.

You will work across both the inpatient and community teams, which offer Eating Disorder treatment to Adults across West Yorkshire. You will offer leadership, supervision and consultation to the multi-disciplinary teams, and work closely with clinical and operational leads to ensure the delivery of high quality treatment. There will be opportunities for service evaluation and development and you will be expected to support the service in thinking psychologically, keeping service users and families at the forefront of what we do.

There will be opportunities to develop working relationships with external agencies and the wider healthcare system to promote holistic thinking and the expansion of access to psychological therapies for individuals with eating disorders.

Main duties of the job

You should have experience of working with this clinical population and a specialist level of skill and knowledge in models of psychological therapy for people with eating disorders.

You should be able demonstrate the ability to be flexible and adaptable in your approach as well as being innovative, dynamic and enthusiastic in working collaboratively with a skilled and experienced MDT.

The role will involve:

  • Providing leadership, supervision and guidance to the psychological professionals within the service, as well as to the wider teams.
  • Oversee the governance and quality of psychological therapies and psychologically informed interventions for individuals with eating disorders, and families and carers
  • Support the development and training needs within the service from a psychological perspective
  • Lead on service evaluation and development projects
  • Liaise with the wider system and support the service to communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Provide a psychological perspective in service-wide meetings and external forums

  • Doctorate level training in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS (or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996) with HCPC registration, OR Doctorate level training in Counselling Psychology with HCPC registration OR at least Post-Graduate diploma qualification in Cognitive behavioural therapy AND accreditation by the BABCP as a CBT therapist AND either a prior core profession or through the Knowledge skills and attitude portfolio route
