Job summary

The Leeds Psychosexual Medicine (PSM) Service offers high quality specialist assessment and treatment to people experiencing a wide range of sexual dysfunction. The team offers therapy to individuals and couples from upwards of 18 years of age and treatment is delivered using a variety of therapeutic approaches, which are tailored to the individual.

We are part of the Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and we are one of the longest established PSM services in the county offering unique medical and psychological treatments for the management of sexual dysfunctionOur goal is to:

  • Provide high quality evidence-based therapy interventions.
  • Measure outcomes to demonstrate the quality and effectiveness of the interventions we provide.
  • Champion sexual and relationship wellness in the context of mental health
  • Operate an inclusive service for people experiencing sexual dysfunction.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated COSRT accredited psychosexual therapist to work in our service and become part of a team of professionals who are dedicated to improving outcomes for people with sexual dysfunction through offering excellent therapy and treatment interventions

This is an exciting opportunity for a therapist wishing to develop their skills in working with this patient group and in managing an autonomous outpatient caseload. In return we will offer access to regular clinical and management supervision as well as opportunities for professional development

Main duties of the job

o To work autonomously, providing a psychosexual medicine service within the Department of Liaison Psychiatry.

o Manage, and be accountable for, a caseload of psychosexual patients in an outpatient setting, and offer interventions based on evidence based clinical judgment.

o To utilise expert knowledge and skills in psychosexual therapy to provide high quality care to assessing, diagnosing, treating, and discharging clients occasionally with physical and psychological co-morbidity.

o Provide a defined number of clinical sessions and assessments per week offering both face-to-face and remote psychosexual therapy.

o To contribute to the development of the psychosexual medicine service.

o To assess level of risk, to service users and others, using appropriate standardized tools

o Maintain accurate documentation in line with professional and Trust standards.

o To maintain knowledge of the relevant evidence base and apply this to clinical practice.

o Working within current professional practice guidelines to ensure safe and effective practice and contributing to the development of new service guidelines and standards, as appropriate.

To participate in clinical governance activities, for example, attending meetings, auditing, and evaluating practice and assisting in implementing changes in response to these.

Work collaboratively with administration colleagues to ensure relevant clinical information is inputted into Care Director (LYPFT information system).

To assist in the delivery of specialist training to other professional groups as appropriate.

Attend mandatory training courses in line with Trust policy.

All other duties commensurate with the band.

To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment, and discharge of patients.

To assist in the planning of delivery of specialist training to other professional groups as required.

To plan and develop the psychosexual medicine service in collaboration with senior colleagues taking account of national and local drivers and all relevant policies.

To work independently managing competing priorities as required.
