Job summary

Band 7 Clinical Psychologist with developmental plans for progression to 8a

This is an exciting opportunity to join Leeds Community and Wellbeing services, as we have now embarked on our journey to transform our community services across Leeds and are currently in the first phase of service transformation, in line with the NHS long-term plan.

We are investing significantly in psychological profession utilising interventions and how we strengthen a system of care which is psychologically informed. We are committed to the career development of our clinicians to further their clinical, supervisory and leadership skills and experience.

Our collective aim is to achieve greater integration between secondary and primary mental health services, along with the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector. We're really passionate about having people who use our services, their families and carers more involved in the care provisions we deliver.

Leeds community mental health services are multi-disciplinary groups of professionals working together to provide specialist community-focused mental health services to working age adults. Psychological practitioners are a much valued and integral part of this work, providing specialist assessment and interventions, and also contributing to the clinical thinking and decision making of the teams. Alongside direct clinical work, a key component of their role is to provide supervision, consultation, and training to the wider team.

Main duties of the job

We have an exciting opportunity for a clinical psychologist to join our workforce at band 7 with robust developmental plans to progress internally to band 8a. We would therefore welcome applications from band 7 psychologists who are keen to progress into more senior roles.

We are keen to recruit people with experience, knowledge and skills of working with severe and enduring mental health difficulties such as complex trauma, psychosis, interpersonal difficulties, and self-harm. Equally important are leadership skills and the ability to develop innovative practice. We are looking for people who can contribute to the vision for the service, working closely with colleagues in different parts of the system, including primary care and our valued voluntary sector partners.

We may have other similar positions available at the time of interviewing for some of our other services, if this is the case we will discuss this with you during the recruitment process.
