Job summary

Are you a Specialist Family Therapist with a passion for strategic service development? Are you looking for a role where you maximise all your skills as a Specialist Family Therapist working into a service that prioritises psychologically informed approaches for service-users stepping down from Level Two Rehabilitation settings into the community? The opportunity is now available for a Band 8A Specialist Family Therapist to join the expanding Community Rehabilitation Enhanced Support Team (CREST) for a 12-month Fixed Term Contract (.6 WTE).

Established in 2021, the team comprises a full multi-professional and peer recovery workforce who deliver new ways of working for people placed out of area (OOA) to effectively be repatriated from inpatient settings and forge new lives nearer to home. The aim is to empower people to define, build and live meaningful, independent and satisfying lives outside of locked settings, often termed "complex rehabilitation" or Level Two rehabilitation. As a regional service we cover Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds, Wakefield. CREST is part of the integrated care systems approach.

Main duties of the job

This role is a new development within our service. As such, we are especially keen to hear from candidates with previous experience of using their systemic skills within a strategic leadership position. The role will require the successful candidate to be able to systematically appraise, summarise and communicate to senior leaders the need for systemic assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation across the region. They would then be required to develop an operational model for an exceptional systemic service to meet identified needs. Having expertise and experience of supervising others training in systemic ways of working would also be a desirable criteria for this role.

As a Specialist Family Therapist working alongside a growing team of psychological practitioners, a full MDT and peer recovery workforce you would share your expertise and commitment to working with people experiencing severe and enduring mental health difficulties, which includes psychosis, trauma and risks of harm.

The successful candidate will use their strategic leadership and development skills to systematically appraise, summarise and communicate to senior leaders the need for systemic assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation across the region. They will also be equipped at identifying service provision across the region and how new developments within CREST could build on these. They would then be required to develop an operational model for an exceptional systemic service within CREST to meet the identified need. Alongside this work, the successful candidate would hold a small clinical caseload.

Supporting your development will be a priority of the service. You would be supported by a team comprising consultant psychologists, a principal psychologist, and a wider leadership group to empower individuals and teams to increase knowledge, skills, and professional confidence in improving service user outcomes. In addition, you will have the opportunity to develop relationships with the wider Family Therapy team within LYPFT and access appropriate support and supervision from this team.

You would expand your knowledge and experience working across the Trust and region-wide ICS clinical and organisational landscape. As it is a new and developing service, you would have the opportunity to take a role in aspects of service design and development, supporting the team deliver effective approaches utilising both best practice and cutting-edge innovation to deliver the highest quality care. You would be invested in to consolidate and expand your professional development, through regular supervision, relevant CPD, training and development opportunities.

Flexible working hours can be discussed and as the role is regionwide, there would be combined direct and remote working to optimise both clinical delivery and staff wellbeing. Secondments to the service will also be considered.
