Job summary

The National Inpatient Centre for Psychological Medicine at Leeds General Infirmary is seeking to recruit an experienced health care support worker . This is a full time position working shifts, including nights and weekends.

This post involves working within an experienced multi-disciplinary team that provides rehabilitation, alongside physical and psychological healthcare and education. A strong emphasis is placed on supporting and promoting functional activities, to ensure each service user achieves their individual rehabilitation goals and achieves optimal occupational performance. You will be expected to work well as part of a team, but also to be motivated and self directed in this role. This is a great opportunity to work with service users in a holistic way, using a variety of interventions to promote physical and psychological health and well-being.

This post would particularly suit someone looking to gain additional experience as a support worker in a specialist health care setting. The successful applicant will be provided with a comprehensive in-house induction package to prepare for this varied and challenging role, alongside regular supervision and annual appraisal

Main duties of the job

As a Health Care Support Worker, you will be expected to work with service users, their carers and members of the Multi- Disciplinary Team, to provide care to those with complex mental health and physical health care needs.

The successful candidate will be positive and enthusiastic in their approach, with a calm and confident manner when dealing with the needs of the service users. You will have excellent communication skills, and will demonstrate that you have the ability to form and maintain therapeutic relationships with service users and their carers

You will be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in, and be committed to, involving service users in all aspects of their care. The role requires the successful candidate to support and promote the individual assessment, care and therapeutic interventions for each service user.
