This is an exciting new role that will enhance the Health & Safety Team that covers the whole of the organisation.
The role will be to assist the Head of Health & Safety to promote, monitor, manage and develop a Health & Safety culture within the organisation in line with the trust's values & behaviours.
Main duties of the job
- To assist the Trust Head of Health and Safety to reduce severity and numbers of incidents. To a play an active part in developing and improving the safety culture of the Trust.
- To assist in providing a specialist resource, liaising with the organisation's departments in all aspects of Health and Safety management.
- Work closely with managers to ensure that Health and Safety issues are effectively managed, and to promote Health and Safety as an integral part of good management practice.
- Support and assist the Head of Health and Safety in delivering strategic and operational objectives.

- Review and analyse Datix incident information as required.
- Investigate accidents and incidents as required on behalf of the Health and Safety Team.
- Follow up accidents and incidents to ensure that all outstanding actions are complete and closed.
- Responsible for undertaking Health and Safety Departmental Audits throughout the Trust.
- Analysis and interpretation of incident data and other information (such as new guidance or legislation).
- Review all accidents and safety related incidents within the remit of the health and safety team and carryout investigations where necessary.
- Help ensure that RIDDOR reports are made to the Health and Safety Executive within appropriate timescales.
- Ability to use initiative and act independently by interpreting health and safety legislation and policy to ensure the Trust discharges its legal duties and meets its corporate objectives.
- Produce monthly and annual board reports.
- Assist with health and safety initiatives
- Attend and represent the Head of Health and Safety as required at relevant stakeholder meetings.
- Ability to manage own diary and prioritise work commitments.
- Advising, training, and assisting managers with risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Provides timely and detailed written reports, risk assessments, safe systems of work and verbal information as required.
- Works within and towards predetermined Health and Safety Goals and Targets.
- To comment upon plans prepared in respect of Estate Capital. Developments and projects to ensure safety features are incorporated at design stage.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings concerning the development and promotion of the health & safety team.
- Working with contractors to review health and safety documentation to allow works to commence.
