Leeds and York Partnership Foundation trust in partnership with NHS Workforce Education & Training (formerly Health Education England) and the University of Hull are delighted to invite applications for three full time Trainee Cognitive Behavioural therapist posts. These posts are on the Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive behavioural therapy For Serious Mental Health problems (Psychosis and Bipolar Disorder) at the University of Hull. Applications are particularly encouraged from people with an interest and knowledge / experience of Cognitive Behavioural therapy and commitment to working therapeutically with people with Psychosis and Bipolar disorder. All three posts will provide formal psychological interventions using newly developed skills whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. Once the course requirements are met and the postholder has achieved provisional accreditation with the BABCP they will progress to a full time qualified band 7 CBT therapist role in either working age adult or older peoples services in Leeds.
This is an exciting time to be joining the service as we progress with significant service expansion, in psychological therapies and coproduced clinical model of care, in line with the NHS long-term plan and the national programme of community mental health transformation.
Applicant must have a core profession as outlined in the person specification. Evidence of this will be needed at interview.

We will be hosting an online webinar on Wednesday 13th December 4pm - 4.45pm where Dr Fiona Lowis, Consultant clinical psychologist, and one of our current CBT trainees will talk about the role andbe available to answer any questions.

About us
You will be supported by experienced colleagues and offered a range of opportunities to develop core CBT competencies within the workplace in conjunction with the academic support offered by the course team. You will benefit from clinical supervision on the course and in the workplace, with opportunities for peer support. You will have time for study and assignments built into your job plan. In the first year of the course you will develop your skills with a broad range of clients before specialising in working with people with Psychosis and bipolar disorder and more complex presentations in the second year. You will be encouraged to develop areas of interest that are relevant to the clinical work and contribute to service initiatives and development.

This is a transition and training role, which is a fixed term contract. Once the course requirements are met and the postholder has achieved provisional accreditation with the BABCP they will progress to a full time qualified band 7 CBT therapist role.. The postholder will work within Working age adult or Older peoples Community Transformed mental health services in Leeds.
Further details and information will be provided within the individuals contract of employment.
- The post-holder will work within the service specified 4 days a week. They will provide formal psychological interventions using newly developed skills whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role on the other day.
- This intensive training post will equip the postholder to provide a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) service to clients with a range of complex problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective.
- The first year of the training course will equip the trainees to offer CBT for a range of psychological difficulties including Anxiety, depression and the second year is specialising in working with people with Psychosis and Bipolar disorder.
- To attend to the training course requirements and undertake all of the below duties under the supervision of a clinical supervisor.
- Develop psychological formulations for individual patients that contribute towards the overall assessment of their care needs
- Collaboratively establish individual patients goals towards recovery.
- Determine suitability of specific psychological interventions, including group and individual modalities, based on the patients assessment/formulation
- Plan, deliver and review individual and group psychological interventions for specific patients.
- With service user consent, to video tape clinical sessions for viewing in clinical supervision and for submission for course assignments.
- Identify gaps within and potential developments of the psychological therapy programme, reporting these to supervisory staff
- The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities
