Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen with the Forensic service for a Clinical Lead Dietitian, covering Forensic in-patient wards at the Newsam Centre and Clifton House. Both sites are low secure Forensic services, with both male and female in-patient wards.

The post is advertised for 22.5 hours per week; working hours/pattern of 22.5 hours can be further discussed and agreed if successful at interview. The post holder could either be on a permanent contract working 3 days per week or employed on a secondment (12 months) working 3 days per week.

We are looking for an individual who is:

  • Enthusiastic about the role of dietetics within mental health services.
  • Passionate about working with this client group.
  • Motivated to educate service users and staff about nutrition and wellbeing and to support with on-going service development and training opportunities within the service.
  • Able and willing to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be building on the dietetic continuous improvement work that has started across the Forensic services, working closely with the Forensics physical health team and leadership teams on both sites. They will have a small dietetic caseload, with the focus on dietetic consultation/triage work. The aim of this work will be to make recommendations to guide future nutritional interventions to the wider multi-disciplinary team. Staff and service user nutrition training will be key to this role, working collaboratively to empower cultural change around nutrition, physical health and wellbeing.
