Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen, as we are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced candidate to provide day to day secretarial and administration support to the ME/CFS Service (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). If you possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, are able to effectively prioritise your workload, and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, we would love to hear from you.

The successful applicant will need to be highly motivated, positive, and able to work under pressure, often managing conflicting demands on their time, as well as meeting tight deadlines. The support service team is a friendly and busy team, and, if you are successful, you will be expected to be a key player in its day-to-day running.

Admin and secretarial support is required Monday to Friday between 8.00 am and 4.00 pm.

Main duties of the job

We need someone with excellent secretarial and administration skills, who must be willing to work flexibly within a busy outpatient department. You must be able to demonstrate good written and verbal communication, inter-personal, and administration skills.

You will be responsible for liaising with members of the public, GP's, and other hospital professionals via telephone and email, whilst ensuring that an efficient service is being provided to all users. You will have good IT skills with experience of MS Word and Excel. Responsibilities include minute taking, typing and use of electronic patient record systems including Care Director, NHS Spine, BigHand, Fluency Direct, and others. Prior knowledge of these systems would be preferable but is not essential as full training will be provided.

The successful post holder will also be expected to provide cover for colleagues at short notice if required.
