Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is looking for a Speciality Doctor to join the Ward 5 team in providing intensive support for our inpatients in complex rehabilitation.
This vacancy is a new substantive post which has arisen through additional investment which Ward 5 has been able to attract. The successful applicant will support the Consultant to provide clinical leadership and senior psychiatric input for all inpatients on Ward 5.
Ward 5 is a 17-bedded, malecomplex rehabilitation ward with an air-lock. Patients on the ward are service users with complex psychosis who have a primary diagnosis of a psychotic illness and despite treatment, continue to live with severe and treatment-resistant symptoms of psychosis which impact on their social, interpersonal and occupational functioning. The main purpose of the ward is to provide active rehabilitation for male service users with complex psychosis for a period of up to 2 years, as outlined in the NICE guidelines on Rehabilitation for Adults with Complex Psychosis (2020), AIMS Rehab Standards (2016), and the Royal College of Psychiatrist Template for Rehabilitation Services (2009).
The post holder will be professionally accountable to the Medical Director (Dr Chris Hosker), operationally accountable to Richard Carroll (Head of Operations). The Clinical Supervisor will be the Dr Cristina Nevschi. The post holder will report clinically to the Consultant.
Main duties of the job
The medical team is made up of 1.0 WTE Consultant Psychiatrists and the post holder. The service aims to promote recovery and improve the service users everyday functioning supported by a multidisciplinary team comprising of nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, medical colleagues,healthy living advisors, dietician and support workers.
We have an excellent record in Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Education and Training, evidenced by medical student, core and higher trainee placement feedback in Health Education England annual reports. We have a highly successful University of Leeds Core Psychiatry Training Course for trainees in psychiatry. The Trust is also delighted to have nominated both successful Health Education England Yorkshire School of Psychiatry Core and Higher Trainees of the Year 2018 and the Trust's Director of Medical Education was runner up for the Royal College of Psychiatrists Trainer of the Year 2018. There is a weekly Wednesday afternoon teaching programme (currently on zoom) to which all doctors are invited.
The Andrew Sims Centre provides high quality continuing professional development (CPD) courses all of which are eligible for CPD hours subject to peer group approval.
