Job summary

This is a new role within a psychologically led service with a national and international profile and impact. This rapidly developing and innovative clinical area operates across the northern region. The service has regional clinics in Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield, Blackpool, and Newcastle. The postholder will be based at one of these clinics, with the expectation of some travel to other sites, as well as working from home. The service employs a psychological model and is largely made up of a psychological workforce. There is a great opportunity, working alongside the Consultant Psychologist and Clinical Lead (a national expert in gambling addiction), to develop and contribute to the clinical delivery of the service within regional integrated care models. The service contributes to policy and regulation at a national level.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will work across the geographical footprint of the service. They will work alongside the Clinical Lead/Consultant Psychologist, contributing to the ongoing development of the clinical model, clinical governance, adherence and integrity of the clinical service, and the training and CPD of clinical staff. They will offer clinical supervision to senior psychologists and senior clinical staff. They will coordinate the teaching on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychological across the regions, as well as trainee clinical psychology and year in industry psychology placements. Working alongside the operational manager and clinical lead to liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the service is embedded clinically into the integrated regional care services, including the promotion of the service. The postholder will deputise for the Consultant Psychologist where appropriate. Subject to job planning and service priorities they will be involved with the Clinical Lead in Research and evaluation, and clinical audit. The postholder will undertake clinical work involving the assessment, formulation and treatment of Gambling Disorder and co-morbid distress.

Qualification in CBT, DBT and experience working in addiction services would be highly desirable.
