To offer training and workforce development to the PDS team and the services the PDS works with, in turn
  • The YHPDP Core OM service provides a consultation and formulation service across the Yorkshire and Humberside area to support the implementation of the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) strategy. - To work alongside probation colleagues and other criminal justice staff to enhance the assessment, supervision and risk management of high-risk offenders, including joint casework, and to support the implementation of the OPD Pathway

Job description

Job responsibilities

The PDS comprises a blended team of lived and occupational experts, who work alongside inpatient and community teams for adults and young people (16 +) on a secure care pathway across the region. Changes following the introduction of Integrated Care Services (ICSs) mean that this is an exciting time to be joining the team. The team operate across the region covered by the three provider collaboratives (PCs) that serve the population of West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Humber & North Yorkshire ICS. The PDS work alongside teams to learn about what has happened within a system to obstruct pathways, by way of co-created thinking spaces that foster the conditions for something different to happen. They aim to help people learn from and with each other, develop trust and foster effective, meaningful, and important relationships.

The YHPDP team includes psychologists, psychotherapists, occupational therapists, housing workers and probation staff. Like the PDS, they are a regional service and part of Leeds Personality Disorder services. The team work collaboratively with probation staff to develop risk management plans and support service users to seek the most appropriate treatment for their needs. The aim is to enable thoughtful, compassionate and therapeutic risk management delivered in partnership with colleagues from the Probation Service, with the ultimate aim of reducing reoffending, increasing psychological well-being and developing a workforce with the additional competencies for working effectively with this group. The team draw on an eclectic range of psychological theory to best enable non-psychological practitioners to understand behaviour which may often challenge working alliances.

Both teams actively promote and maintain a reflective, safe and supportive culture, and are committed to robust professional leadership, equality, diversity and inclusion and supporting staff wellbeing. Like all colleagues, the Senior Psychologist or Psychotherapist will be offered training and development opportunities, and is expected to attend and offer regular clinical and managerial supervision, as well as reflective practice groups.

Other main duties:

To work across both teams in a manner that is formulation-based, trauma-informed, and builds the capacity of the wider team to work in a psychologically- and trauma-informed way. To provide line-management and/or clinical supervision to members in both multidisciplinary teams, including Probation Practitioners, Assistant Psychologists or Trainees. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures. To utilize research skills for audit, policy, service development and research within the area served by the teams.

Although the PDS/YHPDP office base is in Leeds, the organisation has moved towards increased agile working, so the post holder may work remotely for some of the time each week. The post requires regular travel across the region.
