Job summary
Chesterfield Royal Hospital is offering a rare and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, confident, and dynamic nurse to join our Acute Oncology Service. This is a part-time 22.5 hour position working Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8am-4pm.
The successful candidate will ensure patients with cancer, who are admitted non-electively, receive seamless, expert care for disease complications or treatment toxicity. You'll coordinate streamlined pathways and drive clinically optimal decisions.
You'll work independently and collaboratively within the MDT - including parent oncologists, site-specific CNSs, acute physicians, ED, and ward teams. You'll deliver expert clinical care, advice, and leadership to maintain service excellence.
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities:
- Triaging auto-generated alerts for new oncology admissions
- Assessing patients with acute oncology conditions
- Diagnosing and guiding management of oncology conditions and emergencies
- Supporting referrals across specialties
- Delivering education and training to healthcare professionals
- Contributing to service development and audit
