Locum Consultant Radiologist - Breast

Job summary

We are looking to appoint a less than full time Breast Radiologist to support the service expansion of the breast department. The successful candidate will join our team of 2 Consultant Breast Radiologists and 3 Advanced Clinical Specialists working within the integrated service of the North Derbyshire Breast Screening Service and Symptomatic breast service based at Chesterfield Royal hospital.

We are particularly interested in candidates who are competent in delivering a wide range of Breast services across all modalities, as well as achieving high reporting standards in a range of imaging examinations.

Candidates with a keen interest and experience in teaching are welcomed; Chesterfield has general radiology trainees as well as Breast trainees from the Nottingham training scheme.

Candidates wanting to support the general department, including general oncology cross sectional imaging, will be supported should they wish to do so.

Essential

  • MBBS / MBBCh and possess FRCR.
  • Full GMC registration with a Licence to Practice
  • Oncology imaging sub-specialist training / relevant experience.

Desirable

  • Special interest or additional qualifications in other areas of clinical radiology
  • Higher degree

Experience

Essential

  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining a UK CCT in general radiology.
  • Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of radiological investigations
  • Oncology CT reporting
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
  • Ability to organise and manage radiology lists and priorities.
  • Experience of supervising radiology trainees.

Desirable

  • 5 years supervised training in an appropriate ST equivalent training programme.
  • Radiology Fellowship in Breast Imaging
  • Clinical leadership experience or training.
  • Higher management training
  • Basic non-vascular intervention such as soft tissue biopsies and ascitic drains
