Job summary
This is a substantive, part-time appointment for a Consultant in Ophthalmology to support delivery of services within our friendly modern and well-equipped Eye Centre.
Our service is expanding, and an enthusiastic and committed individual is sought to work with our existing clinical team at what is an exciting point in service development. The Department has links with the Tertiary Trust at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and delivers the Northern part of the Derbyshire Diabetic Retinal Screening (DRS) programme.
We are seeking someone with good general ophthalmic skills and consideration can be given to candidates with varied sub-speciality interests so long as these align with departmental operational requirements.
We would be particularly interested to hear from individuals with a proven track record of clinical and educational leadership in the speciality to support some anticipated workforce and educational developments.

- FRCOphth or relevant/equivalent qualification
- Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise and entry on GMC specialist Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview
Desirable
- Completion of a fellowship or other qualification in an ophthalmic sub-specialty or special interest
Experience
Essential
- Current experience of Consultant level on call in an acute general hospital Ophthalmology Department sufficient to safely function upon the Consultant on call rota
- Able to work independently at a senior level, taking responsibility for clinical care of patients.
- Clinical training and experience in Ophthalmology broadly equivalent to that required to gain UK CCST in Ophthalmology.
