Job summary
The appointment is for a Locum Consultant in General Surgery within our friendly and well-established Surgical Specialties Division at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. There will be opportunity to work with colleagues in the development of new and effective patient care pathways in a department which strives to provide excellent services.
This post is designed to support the existing provision of upper gastrointestinal surgery, as well as further developing the provision of laparoscopic surgery for benign upper gastrointestinal diseases, this will include complex laparoscopic hiatal hernia repair.
Key aspects of the role will include development of emergency services as well as provision of surgical ambulatory care, emergency Upper GI surgery (including hot gall bladder lists) and support for the general on-call rota. There will be a requirement for the successful candidate to provide regular gastroscopy lists and to be involved in emergency care.
