Job summary
Working in a very friendly and supportive Child Health department, we have an exciting opportunity to work within the Child Development Psychology Team/Autism Team across North Derbyshire to provide specialist autism assessments for children and young people as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
- To provide a range of specialist autism assessments for children and young people as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- To share complex and sensitive diagnostic formulations with young people, parents/carers and other professionals within health, social care and education.
- To provide supportive feedback sessions to young people and families, including providing tailored signposting, advice and strategies as required.
- To contribute to team and service developments.

Essential
- A recorded/ UK- registered professional qualification in one of the following at graduate level: Registered nursing, social work, occupational therapy, clinical psychology or speech and language therapy.
- Registration with a professional body e.g. HCPC, RCN, NMC, Social Work England
Desirable
- Additional training post qualification in evidenced based therapeutic approach or intervention
- Additional training in ADOS or ADI-r or standardised ASD tool.
Experience
Essential
- -Experience of working with other neurodevelopmental diagnoses and differences e.g. learning disability, speech and language differences, ADHD, autism
- Experience of carrying out complex psychological assessments of children and young people
- To have worked therapeutically with young people and families.
- Worked effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experienced in risk assessments, plans and safeguarding procedures
Desirable
- Experience of assessing ASD in children and young people
- CAMHS or Paediatric experience

- Good knowledge and understanding of autistic experience.
- Knowledge of assessment tools and methods to identify autism in young people
