Job summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experiencedMaternity Midwife to lead and manage theAntenatal Clinic, Community Midwifery, and Continuity Midwifery teams. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring high standards of care, service improvement, and strategic development in line with NHS maternity transformation initiatives, includingBetter Birthsand theNHS Long-Term Plan.
The successful candidate will have significant experience in midwifery with a focus on hospital and community services. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills. The post holder will drive innovation, collaborative working across hospital and community settings and oversee the role out of additional Continuity of care teams.
The post holder's leadership and clinical expertise will influence the development of a positive and supportive culture, promoting evidence-based practice and empowering staff to deliver excellent care.
They will ensure families are treated with compassion, dignity and respect placing value on the diversity of the local community and beyond.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for:
The continued role out of Maternity Continuity of Carer Teams ensuring an enhanced model of MCoC is adopted for families living in deprived areas.
Oversee all NHS Antenatal and Newborn Screening programmes within the Trust, consistent with national screening recommendations and national programme standards.
A key clinical leader in community and maternity outpatient services, ensuring the highest standards of midwifery practice and clinical care is delivered to women and their families.
Motivating teams to reach their full potential by provision of exemplary line management and clinical skills.
Be an accessible and visible presence across community and outpatient services, advising staff, women and their families.
Facilitate, support/empower and develop the Lead Midwife for Antenatal Clinic and Community to manage their areas effectively.
Work collaboratively with other Matrons in the Trust, contributing to the development and delivery of both Trust and Divisional objectives.
Assist in the delivery of the Clinical Governance agenda.
Be responsible for setting and monitoring clinical standards and to play a proactive role in quality improvement, whilst demonstrating an awareness of the impact of each clinical areas activity, interacting with other areas to provide a seamless service.
Takes responsibility for providing a high level of professional, operational and transformation leadership within the Care Unit and the Trust.
