Senior Therapy Support Worker (OT)

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapy Senior Therapy Support worker to join our Stroke team.

As a Senior Therapy Support worker you will be assessing and treating patients in a range of daily activities to encourage functional independence in preparation for their discharge from hospital. You will be required to identify goals and provide rehabilitation to increase a patients independence and safety. You will be supported to provide physical, cognitive and psychology rehabilitation during your therapy sessions.

You will be working under the guidance of an established and supportive team of qualified Occupational Therapists (OT), Physiotherapists (PT) and other therapy support staff within the services.

You will be supported to develop the skills to work independently, to provide delivery of care including liaison with patients, family members, carers, the multi-disciplinary team and external agencies

IT skills are required, as the service operates with electronic patient records.

There is a commitment to support 7-day services, so flexibility to work weekends on a rota system will be required.

As part of this role, you will be expected to work in an inpatient setting and in the community, within patients homes. You will be expected to have your own caseload and support the qualified staff with more complex cases. You will need to be able to manage your time effectively and independently.

Essential

  • 3 A levels or Health and Science T-level or equivalent level 3 qualification(s) and functional skills (level 2)
  • OR - as a level 3 apprenticeship, such as the Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship (or other level 3 qualification pathway)
  • OR *the ability to start these qualifications within the first 6 months of employment*

Desirable

  • NVQ/QCF or equivalent level 2 in a health related subject

Experience
