Job summary

We are seeking to expand our consultant establishment at Chesterfield Royal Hospital by appointing Emergency Medicine Consultants to work within our dynamic and supportive ED team.

Our aim is to recruit to 19-20 practitioners, and we are already close to this target with a current headcount of 15 consultants. We have also established a number of routes to enable completion of CESR for those with ambition to achieve Specialist Registration.

The successful candidate/s will have broad general knowledge and experience as a senior decision maker in Emergency Medicine, and will work in our state of the art, multi-million pound Urgent & Emergency Care (UEC) Department, which opened in Summer 2023.

Essential

  • MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
  • Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise and entry on GMC specialist Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview
  • Valid provider status in APLS/EPLS ATLS, ALS

Desirable

  • Instructor status in life support course
  • Consultant equivalent experience and CESR may be considered in some cases, subject to agreement for an alternative recruitment pathway

Experience

Essential

  • Higher specialist training scheme in Emergency Medicine or minimum of 5 years' experience in Emergency Medicine.
  • Good understanding of Emergency Medicine and point of delivery care for emergency services.

Desirable

  • subspecialty experience e.g., GP, Acute Med, Paediatrics, Anaesthetics, Care of Elderly, CDU/Ambulatory Care
  • Experience in Digital Innovation within Healthcare
  • Experience in CDU/Ambulatory Care.
  • Experience in simulation medicine.
  • Previous experience of using online patient record system e.g., SystmOne.

Skills

Essential

  • Clinical supervision experience/skills
  • Basic IT skills
  • Ability to lead and manage ED staff.

Desirable

  • EM Ultrasound competencies
  • Sound knowledge NHS multiple structures and systems.
