Job summary

Are you looking to gain experience of working as a Band 5 working in our district general hospital in one of our acute and community rotational posts?

We currently have a permanent full-time vacancy for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Dietitian within our friendly and supportive department of dietitians, a nutrition support nurse, assistant dietitian practitioners and admin staff.

You will be a HCPC registered dietitian with hospital and community experience.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will initially provide dietetic services to adults at home, in care homes, in outpatient clinics and community hospitals. Consultations are carried out by telephone, face to face or via video calls. Whilst the majority of the work will be nutrition support the post holder will be advising patients with varying conditions and dietary requirements.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Clinical.

  1. To provide a client centred nutrition & dietetic service at various locations according to patients needs.
  2. To participate in the team approach to the care of individuals referred to the service.
  3. To liaise with the multi-disciplinary team within the trust and the wider health community to ensure the nutritional needs of clients can be met.
  4. To accurately collect relevant activity data required for service monitoring, management and evaluation.
  5. To develop evidence based dietary information in conjunction with other members of the nutrition and dietetic team.
  6. To provide cover for senior dietetic colleagues as appropriate.
  7. To work with other members of the nutrition & dietetic team and catering staff to develop menus to meet the need of inpatients at Chesterfield Royal and the community hospitals.

Clinical Governance.

  1. To be actively involved in the implementation and development of Clinical Governance.
  2. To work with dietetic colleagues to ensure the nutrition and dietetic training needs of nursing, medical and other staff is met within the Trust and the North Derbyshire health community.
  3. To contribute with other members of the nutrition and dietetic team to the identification, development and implementation of standards of dietetic practice.
  4. To actively participate in clinical audit and research.
  5. To be involved with mealtime audits and attend relevant catering meetings.
  6. To calculate nutritional content of hospital menus for the purposes of dietary assessment, menu coding, and meeting national standards.
  7. To demonstrate a commitment to CPD by maintaining an up to date professional portfolio.
  8. To provide support and participate in student dietitian practice learning placements (after a 6 month induction period).
