Job summary
We are looking to appoint a transformational leader to our Director of Midwifery / Associate Chief Nurse role. An exciting opportunity has arisen, as our current highly respected Director of Midwifery is retiring later this year, and we want to appoint their successor to work alongside them and transition into the role here at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.
As an organisation recently receiving a CQC rating of GOOD for maternity services, we want our Director of Midwifery/ Associate Chief Nurse to build on this positive foundation. Through strong professional leadership, with the highest level of emotional intelligence and communication skills, the Director of Midwifery will empower staff to develop best practice in line with Saving Babies Lives, Ockenden actions and the Maternity Incentive Scheme. As part of the Quadrumvirate contribute to the delivery of the Three-year delivery plan for the Trust's Perinatal Services.
Main duties of the job
As the Director of Midwifery/ Associate Chief Nurse, you will demonstrate strategic leadership and professional accountability to support the implementation of service improvement strategies to improve quality, experience, safety, and efficiency for women and their families. Through visibility, fundamental to this role is to lead the professions in showing kindness, dignity, respect and care for our colleagues, women/childbearing people and families, ensuring the Trust is the hospital of choice and enhancing a culture within the Trust which builds on our values.
As Associate Chief Nurse there is opportunity to support your development by agreeing an extended portfolio which supports your development and passion.

Our maternity services have over 2,800 births per year which comprise Home and Hospital Births. The Chesterfield Birth Centre (CBC) has 12 birthing rooms 4 with pools. Our 19 bedded ante/ post-natal ward is currently being expanded to accommodate Transitional Care increasing the bed base to 21. The busy ante natal department is based at our Trust site and supports 12%- 13% Out of Area bookings. Our community midwifery teams and a continuity of carer team are based on various sites across North Derbyshire.
