Job summary
Overview
This post represents an exciting opportunity for an innovative and compassionate Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist, to work as a specialist clinician within the oncology prehabilitation and therapy team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. The team provides interventions designed to optimise people prior to a range of treatments for cancer including; surgery, radiotherapy and systemic anticancer therapy (SACT), by combining physical, nutritional and psychological approaches.
The postholder will work directly within a mixed AHP team and work collaboratively with cancer MDTs and the Macmillan information and support centre team. The post will provide a variety of rewarding experiences including service development, collaborative working, clinical audit, patient engagement and learning opportunities.
Main duties of the job
- To contribute to the provision of physical, psychological and functional guidance in the context of prehabilitation interventions to enhance and promote increased physical activity in patients newly diagnosed with cancer, prior to starting treatment.
- To support seamless linking of services across a variety of settings, throughout the cancer pathways.
- To provide screening, assessment, support and advice in order to personalise care for people affected by cancer in North Derbyshire.
- To manage a complex caseload of patients requiring interventions, including the delivery of class-based exercise activity, one-to-one treatment sessions and delivering education through wellbeing sessions. All will be delivered through a variety of approaches including face-to-face and virtual mediums.
