An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and proactive individual to contribute to the co-ordination of the care provided to cancer patients.
Our cancer pathway team keeps track of all the suspected and diagnosed cancer patients making sure they are seen and treated as soon as possible and within national cancer waiting time targets. We support the weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings and as an integral member of these teams you will be involved in managing the pathway accurately in the preparation and collation of clinical information as well as the meticulous capture of cancer data for national clinical audits. Previous experience is not essential as training will be provided.
You will need to be a good communicator as you will be dealing with clinical and administrative teams both within and across other Trusts.
You will be joining at an exciting time as we continue to expand and improve our Cancer waiting times for Patients. We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting Service improvement to ensure the best possible care is delivered to our patients
Main duties of the job
The Data Administrator will be an integral part of the Cancer Pathway team.
The post holder will be expected to work closely with all members of the admin and clinical teams.
The post holder will be involved in all aspects of data co-ordination and supporting the MDT team throughout the Cancer Pathway and be responsible for data input to an integral part of the target data collation required for National submission and responsible for liaising with internal and external teams to collaborate data to produce reports.
The work requires initiative, accuracy and attention to detail as well as encompassing statistical skills and the ability to create, extract and interpret appropriate data, formulae and calculations and present in an appropriate narrative and format.
The role is to support the delivery of faster and earlier diagnosis of Cancer and to improve patient experience. The post will support non-specific symptoms which could indicate cancer; as well as for a cohort of patients with site-specific symptoms who are currently served by a Suspected Cancer Pathway.
The post holder must be able to communicate sensitively and effectively with a wide range of people including other colleagues, medical and nursing staff, other outside agencies and other departments throughout the Trust.

- To be responsible for inputting and maintaining a robust data collection system to provide clinical and Cancer waiting times information and to produce reports as required.
- To Maintain knowledge of Cancer data standards and ensure that the most efficient and effective method of data collection is used for the Trusts information systems whilst adhering to both national and Trust standards via data and system analysis.
- To support the management of the Cancer diagnostic journey ensuing that all patients are treated within targets dates and ensuring effective communication with managers to identify potential treatment delays in line with the NHS cancer plan, supporting data coordination to provide service and performance information to relevant teams to direct operational and improvement work.
- Involvement in patient pathway data collation and analysis and organising and planning meetings with the Cancer and BI Teams to review and action any requirements.
- Improve the consistency and accuracy of data inputting; required to utilise statistical skills to produce and understand formulae including pivot tables and data calculations and extract data from such to present both internally and externally.
- Run the monthly RDC return ensuring all patients have correct and accurate data.
- Produce regular and ad-hoc RDC data reports from The Infoflex Cancer Management system when required.
- Manage and prioritise own workload, activities and tasks with freedom to act and work independently.
- Develop own skills and Knowledge and provide information to others to help their development.
- Maintain an accurate, up to date log of the RDC data spreadsheet.
