Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Acute Medicine team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. The successful applicant will join an established team of 10 consultants, registrars in training, GP trainees, foundation doctors, Physician associates and specialist nurses. The appointee will work across the acute medical unit but will primarily focus on the Medical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit.
This role will enable an ST3+ equivalent level doctor to gain further experience in acute/general medicine, as part of our (specialty) team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, in order to consolidate their knowledge, skills, and confidence prior to moving on to the next stage of their career. The minimum skill requirement is 4 years of post-graduate experience, which is outlined on the Person Specification.
Some aspects of the role can be tailored to the individual needs of the post-holder to consider previous relevant experience, or achievement of requirements for application to specialty training. Previous post holders have taken the opportunity to attend neurology clinics; work within Quality Improvement; pathway development; and the development and running of education training programmes, therefore giving the option to negotiate a bespoke job plan with regards to out of hours work.
You will be expected to participate in teaching, audit, guideline development and service improvement projects.

- Proactive patient management to achieve timely and high-quality assessment and care.

- Provision of out of hours cover, under the supervision of the consultant on-call.
- Involvement in multi-disciplinary teams and meetings.
- Participation in teaching and training for junior doctors and medical students, including involvement in their educational assessments, and education of other health care professionals.
- Active involvement in audit and the development of departmental services and strategies.
