We are recruiting General Practitioners (GPs) to join our established and developing Primary Care service within the Rotherham Urgent and Emergency Care Centre (UECC). This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a well-supported multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality urgent care within a modern, fully integrated service.
The UECC brings together Emergency Department services with Primary Care and GP Out of Hours provision, enabling a coordinated and patient-centred approach to urgent care delivery. GPs within our service work across a 24-hour rota, including evenings, weekends and overnight shifts, as part of a shared and supported rota model.
Main duties of the job
This
is a varied and rewarding clinical role. GPs contribute across key areas of the
service including Urgent Primary Care, GP Out of Hours and front-door
streaming. You will assess and manage a broad range of undifferentiated
presentations, including children, minor illness, injury and appropriate acute
conditions.
The
role requires confident senior clinical decision-making, risk management and
the ability to support and supervise other clinicians within the team. You will
work alongside ACPs and Emergency Medicine colleagues, providing clinical
leadership, supporting patient flow and ensuring safe and timely care delivery.
We
are looking for GPs who are confident managing undifferentiated patients,
demonstrate sound clinical judgement and are able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary
team.
Posts
are available on a full-time or part-time basis, with a competitive salary. Allocation
of weekend and overnight commitment is done pro rata/whole time equivalent
contract. The post includes access to
the NHS Pension Scheme, annual leave, study leave and protected CPD time.

The Post
Rotherham UECC delivers primary care within an integrated urgent care model, with GPs and ACPs working together to assess and manage patients presenting to the front door.
This role involves providing high-quality clinical assessment, diagnosis and management for undifferentiated patients, including children presenting to the primary care stream of the UECC and/or the GP Out of Hours service.
You will work as a senior decision-maker within the team, supporting clinical flow, providing advice and guidance to colleagues, and ensuring safe and effective patient care.
You will be expected to work across services, delivering a wide range of consultation skills including:
- front-door streaming
- face-to-face consultations
- telephone triage and consultations, including patients referred via NHS 111
- booked clinic appointments
- home visiting within the local area
You will also contribute to the supervision and support of ACPs and junior clinicians, and play an active role in maintaining safe, effective service delivery across the wider team.
