An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small, friendly and proactive Inpatient Pain Team at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a highly motivated Registered Nurse who is passionate about delivering excellent, patient centred care and ready for a fresh new challenge in a truly rewarding role.
As a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will work as part of an innovative and supportive multidisciplinary team, while also enjoying the autonomy to make a meaningful impact in your own way. You will play an important role in the ongoing development of our inpatient pain service, contributing to audit, education, training and quality improvement initiatives. Main duties of the job
Manage a specialist caseload, providing expert assessment, advice, and support for pain management across the Trust. Receive and prioritise referrals, develop individualised treatment plans, and carry out relevant nursing procedures. Set up and adjust PCA and epidural analgesia pumps and give additional analgesia when appropriate. Support patients with complex pain needs and provide clear education to adults and children about pain relief options.
Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and staff at all levels, including those with cognitive or communication difficulties, and offer sensitive support in emotional situations. Work closely with the Lead Specialist Nurse/ACP, Anaesthetic Consultant, and MDT, contributing to case discussions and coordinated care. Produce accurate documentation and assist with developing communication and educational tools.
Provide support and education to staff on safe and effective pain management and take part in service development, audit, and quality improvement activities to support high standards of care.
