An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small, friendly team at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills to provide excellent support to patients and staff across the full range of echocardiographic investigations.
The Cardiac Physiology Service at Rotherham is evolving and requires flexible and forward thinking staff. We are seeking an individual with a desire to work in a healthcare environment, possess a professional attitude and be able to work flexibly in a busy team.
The successful applicant will have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to work autonomously. The department has a busy echocardiography service with a focus on training and specialist areas and you would support the delivery of the echocardiography service in a range of clinical settings (e.g. outpatient, inpatient, wards, A&E, ITU). You would assist the Echocardiographers by preparing the Patient and equipment optimise patient flow and ensure the best use of resources and also support the reception team to ensure best use of appointment availability and performs necessary administrative duties to ensure efficiency. Main duties of the job
To support the delivery of the echocardiography service in both outpatient and inpatient settings. To escort patients in and out of the examination room. To take measurements of height, weight and blood pressure. To support patients within the department, assisting with toileting and overall patient comfort to preserve their privacy and dignity. To assist with the moving and handling of patients. To undertake cleaning of clinical rooms and clinical equipment as and when required. To act as a chaperone when required, for any cardiac investigation. To clean the TOE probe in accordance with departmental protocol. To perform administrative duties to promote patient flow within the department. This includes ensuring all appointment slots are filled, booking porters, processing inpatient referrals and urgent requests and support the reception team to book appointments. To open up clinics and diary templates on the electronic booking system (CVIS) following instruction from the Service Lead. To answer telephone queries. To be responsible for checking and maintaining stock within the department. With appropriate training, to perform 12 Lead electrocardiograms (ECG) or other basic cardiology tests at the request of physiologists. To monitor the wellbeing of patients within the department.
