Job summary

We are looking for a Clerical Assistant to join our friendly team on a full time basis.

Shifts to be covered range from 6.50am to 7pm over 5 days

Main duties of the job

  • To receive patients/visitors to the departments in a tactful, pleasant and understanding manner ensuring a professional Reception service is provided, answering the telephone, taking messages, and directing calls to the appropriate person.
  • Ensure that you provide close co-operation when dealing with colleagues, patients/visitors, members of the multi-disciplinary team and outside agencies.
  • To escalate any queries relating to data inputting to ensure accuracy and consistency of information.
  • To receive and action telephone enquiries from wards, patients, General Practitioners and hospital colleagues.. Arrange Pre-operative assessments within local Trust targets and any follow ups as instructed by senior staff.
  • To check emails on arrival and regularly throughout the day and act on information received To deal effectively with personal, email and telephone enquiries, using a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools e.g. tact, diplomacy, and reassurance.
  • To ring patients 24 hours prior to their admission date and relay any concerns or changes through to the appropriate nursing team of scheduling teams.
  • To undertake administration duties for patients on an elective admission pathway from Pre-operative assessment through from referral, pre-op assessment through to admission and discharge.
  • To provide administration for patients attending various clinics within Theatre Admissions Unit.
