Our Gastroenterology, Diabetes and Endocrine ward provides specialist care for patients with a wide range of acute and long-term conditions. As a nurse on the ward, you will work as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, delivering holistic care, supporting patients through complex treatment pathways, and helping them manage chronic conditions.

Main duties of the job
As a Staff Nurse on the Gastroenterology, Diabetes and Endocrine Ward at Rotherham Hospital, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective and compassionate care to patients with a range of acute and long-term conditions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care to ensure individual needs are met.
- Delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care while maintaining patient safety and dignity at all times.
- Monitoring patients conditions, recognising deterioration, and responding appropriately in a timely manner.
- Administering medications and treatments in line with Trust policies and professional guidelines.
- Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate and deliver holistic patient care.
- Supporting patients and their families with information, reassurance and education about their conditions and treatments.
- Maintaining accurate and timely patient documentation in accordance with professional standards.
- Contributing to a positive ward environment by supporting colleagues, students and new staff members.
- Participating in quality improvement, audit and service development to enhance patient care.
- Upholding the Trusts values of Ambitious, Caring and Together in all aspects of your work.
- In this role, you will be supported to develop your clinical skills and knowledge while making a meaningful contribution to patient care and the wider ward team.
