The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking compassionate and motivated Community Childrens Healthcare Support Workers to join the Childrens Community Nursing Team.

The role involves delivering high-quality, one-to-one care to children and young people with complex or long-term health needs within their home or school environment. You will work flexibly across day and night shifts to support a 24-hour service.

Duties include supporting personal and clinical care needs, administering prescribed medication in line with Trust policy, using specialist equipment safely, maintaining infection prevention standards, and monitoring the child or young persons condition in accordance with individual care plans. You will work closely with families and the nursing team, responding effectively to changing care needs.

Applicants should hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant subject and have experience in a care setting, though full training will be provided. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for delivering high-quality, individualised care to children and young people with highly complex health needs within the community, in line with agreed care plans. Duties include assisting with personal and clinical care, tracheostomy care, ventilation support, catheterisation, administering prescribed medication, safely using moving and handling equipment, supporting nutritional needs, and maintaining infection prevention, privacy, and dignity standards. The role requires ongoing assessment of the child or young persons condition, responding appropriately to changes or emergencies, and reporting concerns to the Community Childrens Nurses or Team Leader. Effective communication with children, families, and the multidisciplinary team is essential, alongside supporting play, social interaction, and overall wellbeing.
