Job summary
We are seeking an organised, confident, and compassionate Ward Clerk to join our Care of the Elderly team. As a key member of the ward, you will provide essential administrative support to ensure the smooth and efficient running of daily operations. You will act as the first point of contact for patients, relatives, and visitors, offering a welcoming and professional presence that reflects the values of our service.
In this role, you will manage patient admissions, transfers, and discharges using hospital systems, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date. You will prepare, maintain, and file patient notes, support ward rounds, and coordinate communication between nursing staff, medical teams, and other departments. Your responsibilities will also include answering telephone enquiries, ordering supplies, arranging appointments and transport, and helping maintain an organised and safe working environment.
Working on a Care of the Elderly ward requires patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills. You will play an important part in supporting highquality patient care by ensuring administrative processes run smoothly and efficiently. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in a busy environment, enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team, and is committed to delivering a positive experience for patients and their families.
13.5 hours per week
Main duties of the job
To provide administrative support to the activity within the ward and provide first point of contact to all users of the service. Responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the ward office environment.
