An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 4 Dietetic Assistant Practitioner to join our dynamic Diabetes Dietetic Service. If you are passionate about nutrition, enjoy supporting others, and are eager to develop your clinical skills within a friendly and progressive team, we would love to hear from you.
You will be joining our award-winning, supportive and forward-thinking Nutrition and Dietetics Department, consisting of 28 Dietitians, 4 Dietetic Assistants and 6 Administrative staff. We are a fully integrated Community and Hospital Service, offering a varied and stimulating working environment. We are seeking someone who is:
- Passionate about nutrition and committed to improving patient care
- Confident communicating with patients, carers and healthcare colleagues
- Comfortable using technology and keen to support patients with digital tools such as continuous glucose monitoring
- Organised, detail-oriented and able to manage a varied caseload with guidance
- Positive, proactive and eager to learn in a supportive and dynamic environment
Alongside non-registered applicants we also welcome applications from newly qualified AHPs to this role.
Main duties of the job
This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialist skills within diabetes care while working alongside experienced Dietitians and the wider multidisciplinary team. As a Dietetic Assistant Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of high-quality nutritional care and structured patient education.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting Dietitians with diabetes-focused nutrition interventions and patient management
- Providing hands-on assistance with Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM), including facilitating CGM starts, troubleshooting, and helping patients feel confident using the technology
- Reinforcing dietary and lifestyle education to empower patients in their diabetes self-management
- Assisting with group education sessions, one-to-one appointments and follow-up support
- Contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives within the Diabetes Service
- Collaborating closely with the wider diabetes team to ensure seamless, patient-centred care
