Job summary
The role of the Speech and Language Therapist is to work alongside Child Development Centre (CDC) team members providing speech and language therapy support for children referred to the CDC.
This may involve running communication workshops, offering 1:1 support or working alongside the Consultant Paediatricians to assess and support speech and language needs when families attend clinics at the CDC.
We are a multi-disciplinary team and you will work alongside other Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychology, Nurse Practitioners, Nursery Nurses and Health Care Support workers.
We provide training to support the holistic assessment of the children referred to the CDC, so you will become proficient in offering support around sensory, behaviour, sleep and communication needs.
The CDC is currently involved in a backlog project and the team are working hard to reduce the long waits. We support partnership working and your views, ideas and care plan ideas will be welcome in our team meetings and away days.

21:42 hours per week
Main duties of the job
- To be a part of the multi-disciplinary team, to work alongside the highly specialist team of speech and language therapists assessing children referred to the Child Development Centre
- To provide therapy support /intervention for children with complex and severe learning difficulties with additional diagnoses e.g. Autism Spectrum Disorder in the CDC and community settings.
- To develop and deliver the provision of an enhanced speech and language therapy service for children under the care of the Child Development Centre
- To work in partnership with other members of the CDC team and partners such as Early Years inclusion outreach, Portage, Sencos and Family Support Workers.
