Main duties of the job

To provide clinical support in the Pre-Operative Assessment (POA) Unit and act as an autonomous practitioner. Undertaking both formal and informal teaching to cascade knowledge, skills and promote best practice within the POA service. The Pre Assessment Nurse will be responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating care to meet patients needs. Carry out duties under the direction of Department Sister providing a pre-operative assessment service for all patients accessing the unit. To work within the orgnisations policies, standard operating procedures and guidelines. To maintain effective communication with the multi-professional team about patient care To develop knowledge and skills appropriate to the role and work area To contribute to the development of services and quality improvements
