Labour Ward / Wharncliffe
11.5 hour shifts - 26 hours per week to suit successful candidate
We are looking for individuals to join our existing team within the acute maternity service rotating between Labour ward and wharncliffe.
Duties will include general reception and clerical tasks including filing, photocopying, taking telephone calls and dealing with enquiries from patients, visitors and staff. The post will also involve booking appointments, documenting patients for admission, inputting patient information on the Electronic Patient Record system and SystmOne and maintaining patient notes.
The post would suit an individual with organisational skills, good verbal and written communication skills. IT skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in an acute setting.
Qualifications in word processing and customer service along with knowledge of medical terminology would be an advantage as would previous experience in a similar role.
The post holder will be required to work shifts including, days, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays. The shifts times will be 7am or 7pm, or 7pm to 7 am including a 30-minute break.

Main duties of the job
The Ward Clerk in the Maternity Unit at Rotherham Foundation Trust is essential in providing efficient administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the ward. This role involves managing patient records, coordinating communications between staff and patients, and supporting clinical teams to deliver high-quality maternity care.
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate must have excellent organisational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, shift-based environment. A caring attitude, discretion, and proficiency with IT systems are also key to supporting both patients and healthcare professionals effectively.
