This post offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to develop and consolidate their clinical skills in a specialist paediatric community setting. We are looking for a dynamic, professional and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our friendly & supportive multi-disciplinary team. Our team is a joint Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy service working with children aged 0-19 in Rotherham. We are a neurological and neurodevelopmental service based at TRFT's Child Development Centre. We work across clinics, patient homes and school settings.

Main duties of the job

  • To manage a personal complex clinical caseload of children with a range of neurodevelopmental disorders and in various community settings.
  • To work as an autonomous practitioner to assess and treat a caseload of patients within paediatrics.
  • To support Band 7 staff in the planning and organisation of the Occupational Therapy service.
  • To supervise/teach Band 5 Occupational Therapist, therapy assistants and undergraduate students and be involved in the teaching of multidisciplinary team staff.
  • To undertake evidence based practice and participate in departmental research and audit.
  • To adhere to departmental protocols, trust policies and HCPC code of conduct and National standards where they exist
  • To provide specialist Occupational Therapy advice commensurate with grade to other professionals both within the trust and outside agencies e.g. Health visitors and schools.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of relevant disability, NHS and social care legislation including safeguarding
  • Knowledge and understanding of application of Physiotherapy to neurological and neurodevelopmental paediatric related conditions.
  • Able to demonstrate required clinical knowledge of up to date childrens Occupational Therapy interventions and service issues
  • An understanding of the diverse needs of children and young people

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of Health and Social care roles, responsibilities, priorities and strategic direction.
  • Working knowledge of NHS policies and national agendas.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree/diploma in Occupational Therapy by recognised awarding body e.g. Royal Society of Occupational Therapy
  • Registered with HCPC
  • Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently between TRFT sites and for patient visits in the Rotherham area and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
